In memory of
Barbara Baylor Porter
December 6, 1935 - February 18, 2025

A memorial was held at the American Cathedral in Paris, France on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
Dear Friends,
Thank you all very much for your support in making Barbara’s Memorial Service a meaningful and memorable occasion.
People came from far and wide to celebrate Barbara’s life. It was wonderful to see so many of you there in person and to know there were so many others watching the live streaming.
We are sincerely grateful to everyone who contributed and helped to create a heartfelt tribute to such an exceptional person.
We would particularly like to thank The American Cathedral for helping to create a beautiful service and for all their help and support with the preparations.
Our deep appreciation also goes to The Reverend Canon Hailey Jacobsen for officiating with such calmness and grace, and to The Reverend Jonathan Denson for his excellent sermon.
We are thankful to all who read, shared eulogies, and to Charlie Scales for singing “Amazing Grace,” one of Barbara’s favourites. Our gratitude also goes to Andrew Dewar for his beautiful piano playing and to Dennis Grove for his help on the day with the Cathedral arrangements.
For those who were unable to attend or watch the live stream, we are pleased to now be able to share the recording. Please find the video below, along with the Order of Service.
Following the Service, we enjoyed a wonderful reception in the Parish Hall, which provided a lovely reunion of multiple generations of people all brought together by Barbara.
We also sincerely appreciate all the generous donations made through the GoFundMe campaign. Thanks to your kindness, we were able to cover the costs for the Cathedral, the live streaming, dedicate the flowers on the altar in Barbara’s memory, organise the reception, develop the website, and more. A special thank you to Robert Ruscoe of PolyPrint for donating the large photo of Barbara at the Cathedral entrance. We are truly grateful.
In honour of Barbara’s lifelong commitment to nurturing curiosity and creativity in children, the remaining funds will be donated to Le Musée en Herbe in Paris – an organisation dedicated to introducing children to art in an inspiring and accessible way. Their mission fosters community spirit and develops initiatives for the most vulnerable audiences.
Many thanks and very warm wishes to you all,
Alice, Susan, Dianne, Nancy, Caridad & Donna
